Saint Lucia is still a relatively unspoilt country when it comes to tourism, and the many attractions can usually be enjoyed without the hassle of thousands of other visitors getting in the way. Things are picking up though, and with St Lucia trying to reinvigorate its economy there is a real impetus on encouraging both tourism and foreign investment, meaning more resorts and hotels are popping up on the beachfront. Those wanting to stay away from that kind of thing can still have a rewarding getaway, and the small island makes it much easier to escape from the built up touristy areas to the forests and jungles beyond. The tiny island manages to fit in more than enough attractions or adventures, depending on why a person visits the island. The capital of Castries is one of the most visually stunning of all Caribbean towns and is a main drop off point for many cruise liners in the region – this means there are a great deal of amenities, shops and bars in the town for any visitor to relax in. Along with these fun times come the more cultural pursuits in town, mostly revolving around Derek Walcott Square. Elsewhere on the island are places such as Pigeon Island National Park, Margot Bay and Soufriere, and all of which have their own attractions to see, do and take part in, from carnivals to fish fry’s. Saint Lucia remains unspoilt on the whole, and people looking for the Caribbean getaway that’s at least a little bit off the beaten track could do a lot worse than the little island. Tourism is growing in the region, however, and from an investor’s point of view this is a very good thing, as well as for those wishing for the more traditional resort experience. Right now St Lucia covers many bases tourism-wise and it is well worth a visit by anyone, regardless of their reasons for going.
